What information must aged care homes provide before admission?
Aged care homes must provide comprehensive information about their services before admission. This includes details about circumstances for leaving the facility and relevant policies. Staff must assist individuals to understand this information before commencing any funded aged care services.
How is means testing handled in aged care homes?
Means testing is conducted by the System Governor, who assesses both income and assets. For individuals not receiving service pensions or veteran payments, special consideration is given to income streams purchased after September 20, 2007. The assessment results are provided in writing within 14 days.
Who can provide information for aged care assessments?
Information can be provided by the individual themselves, a person acting on their behalf, or any other person whom the System Governor believes has relevant information. However, providing information is voluntary and not obligatory.
